In Memory of Dr. Richard E. Goldberg
We will miss his joyful presence!
Richard E. Goldberg, a retired vitro retinal surgeon, is a self taught artist. His most recognized images capture ethereal, quiet, spiritual, uplifting moments. Color, light, atmosphere and intrigue evoke a mood, drawing the viewer into the painting.
"Feeling" is seminal to the artist's work which at times conveys surreal qualities. Pared composition and chromatic unity add to feelings of peace, calm, reflection and harmony.
Richard relates "he feels a privileged observer and that art provides a unique opportunity for artist and viewer to open themselves to each other and even something larger than themselves."
The artist's works are in public and private collections.
"One finds that he doesn't just put down an image with paint, but tries to make it grow out of the paint." - Victoria Donohoe, Review Philadelphia Inquirer 2009
Some of Richard E. Goldberg's oil paintings have also been on exhibition at the James A. Michner Art Museum in Doyelstown, PA. Additionally, his work was discussed as part of a symposium entitled "In a Relationship: Art, Science and Medicine".
